The 2003-2004 Global Baseball Championship (GBC) season is the inaugural season of the GBC. This is the first attempt at a revival of the World Championship Baseball series.


In 1999, Nixon Flores founded the GBC and a few years later in 2001, it was announced that the first season will have 16 teams. It was also announced that every team will have a owner contracted by the GBC.

In 2002, it was announced that The WB, UPN, and Fox Sports will have network television coverage of the regular season, while they announced that RealNetworks' RealPlayer will have up to 5 games per day. It was also announced that NBC Sports and CBS Sports will have playoff coverage.
