|“||You better be happy, or I WILL beat the devil out of you.||”|
— Bob Ross
Robert Norman Ross (October 29, 1942 – July 4, 1995) was an American painter, art instructor, and television host. With his calm, patient demeanor, Ross came to prominence as the creator and host of The Joy of Painting, a television program that ran for twelve years on PBS stations in the United States.
Bob appeared in the aforementioned episode when PC Guy was watching television. Bob was painting a tree and called it a “happy little tree”, but then the tree suddenly came to life and stated he wasn’t feeling very happy. Bob then threatened it to be happy, otherwise he would “beat the devil out of it”. This happens to be a reference to his popular phrase, “beat the devil out of it”, which he uses when he cleans his paintbrush.
